8/28/2023 0 Comments Reaper daw pluginsI'm a long time Pro Tools and WaveLab user. It's hard to say if it's more of a REAPER fix or UAD fix but it would be nice to get it sorted out. The only way I can get AU UAD DSP to unload in REAPER is by toggling the AU version of UAD offline. Justin REAPER has been pretty great at addressing things but they have been silent about this when it comes to my forum posts about it. I think it would be worth doing some basic testing with REAPER for UAD support.Ĭlick to expand. Thanks for the info. More and more people are ditching Pro Tools for REAPER every week and not the other way around really. I know it's not Pro Tools or Logic and I was a skeptic myself until I really dug into it, but REAPER is a truly amazing and powerful DAW. Perhaps somebody from UA will read this and can take a closer look at REAPER compatibly. I know that AU and VST are like apples and oranges, but WaveLab for example which uses VST plugins has a feature where their version of item FX (clip FX) only taxes the UAD DSP when the clip with UAD plugins inserted in playing or rendering. If I mix AU and VST/VST3 FX on an item, then a glitch occurs in playback when changing plugin GUIs which is annoying. Ideally I would move to all VST/VST3 plugins in REAPER but there are a few plugins I regularly use that have VST issues in REAPER so for now, I'm sticking with AU. The setting for "Release all UAD DSP on AU bypass" setting doesn't seem to have any affect when using REAPER. With VST, the UAD DSP is only taxed when that item/clip/audio file is being played or rendered as you would expect. Again, with AU versions of UAD, the DSP is taxed even if the item/clip/audio file is not playing. ![]() ![]() If I use the VST version, then bypassing the plugin releases the DSP.Īlso, REAPER allows for item FX meaning instead of inserting the plugin on a track or channel, you can insert FX directly on the audio clip or audio file which is especially useful in mastering situations. I just noticed that in REAPER, when using the AU version of UAD plugins, bypassing the plugin doesn't release the DSP on the UAD card.
